“God supplied everything we ever needed.  It’s God’s food bank.”

Our wonderful food bank started with big hearts and a generous spirit.  In 1993 people began to seek help from the church.  Darrel and Jan Gadbois were there to greet them.  What began as helping a couple of families quickly grew.  The church began to realize that there was a great need in their community.  So they began to host meals at those holiday where food and family mean the most…Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Partnering with First Baptist Church in Clear Lake and Clear Lake Historical Society, annually hundreds of people are served a Thanksgiving meal.  A community gathering so neighbors can meet their neighbors.

In 1994 Community Covenant Church partnered with Love Inc and have partnered with them ever since.  Love Inc is a community resource to help families get back on their feet.  Weekly Love Inc supplies names and information to our food bank so we can be ready when families show up.

It has been wonderful to see how our community has stepped up over the years to support the food bank.  We have seen the Clear Lake Fire Department, Historical Society, Elementary school, Evelyn’s Tavern,  area churches and many individuals from our community bless and support the food bank from finances to donations it has been a real community effort.

We began in a small room in the church and quickly outgrew that space and over the years more buildings and freezer were donated to hold the food and supplies.  In 2004 the food bank was officially established.  We want to thank Valley Electric for graciously donating the electrical work for our food bank.  In a matter of 3 days we went from no power to up and running full electrical system and heat donated from Action RV.
